I also have very thick hair. The key too getting the look you want is more in the cut than the styling product. You need to find a stylist confident with cutting into thick hair.In England this process is called slicing, chipping in or feathering. It involves cutting slices or chunks out of your hair.It takes away a lot of the bulk and weight of the hair.Thinning scissors can help too.Once you have the right cut, then you can start looking for the right products.Styling wax is probably best but don't overdo it.

Well, I have long thick hair and I just use a straightener on it and I get lots of nice comments about my hair, I always use plenty conditioner to keep it shiny and a straightening gel, maybe you should try getting it layered, but sometimes the more products you use can damage your hair, ask your hairdresser for advice.

I used to let thick hair cramp my style, but not anymore!
I now use John Frieda's Frizz Ease Hair Serum. It does more than just tame frizz. Just put a few pumps in your hand before blowdrying and it will make your hair more manageable. It works well for the look you want. Find a picture of him and take it to your stylist because not everyone knows what his hair looks like.
Here is a link to some photos of him.

It seems the best option is to thin your hair if you're after that look. Personally i can't see the point of thinning hair. I know thick hair is difficult at times and heavy but trust me its a blessing!!!
On the other hand, its just hair it will grow back so why not experiment just make sure that style is definately the one you want cos once you start layering they can be a ***** when you grow them out (in process now!)
Good luck, hope it works out for u !

thick hair is awesome!!! i have long curl thick hair... and its great because you dont have to worry about looking like you have bald spots or worrying about do i have enough hair for this look etc... there's one product that i know worked on thick hair.... i can recommend it for you,i know you've probably tried everything but i can recommend that you dry your hair first and then when your hair is dried with a blowdry apply this product in your hair... you apply on your hands and manipulate it with your fingers into your hair... once you're done, thats it; if you do have thick hair like you say, you should try to use paste instead of the creams; there's paul mitchell lab paste and there's matrix bold molding paste.. i hope this helped....

my friends go like this
Does Thick Hair Screw Up Your Style?
my son has this style he has very thick and wavy hair . you need to use loads of conditioner to weigh the hair down as much as possible . it probably will need thinning at the back and sides not too much on top ,or the shorter bits will support the longer bits making it seem puffy . you probably wont get your hair exactly the same as jesses , but it should still look good . also try a leave in conditioner as a styling product it needent be expensive . you could also try straightening your hair that will make it flater and look thiner hope this helps
